Holiday Hiring Of Security Guards, Security Officers And Online Security Guard Training for 2013

Now that the holidays are here, clients seem to have an immediate or temporary need that can stretch your human resources capabilities and you will need to hire.   Remember to take it slowly and accurately when hiring.  Make sure to verify the Guard Card and all background information.  Make sure applicants have certificates for the completion of all classes including the Powers to Arrest and the Weapons of Mass Destruction as well as the other mandatory requirements and electives.  If they are missing any of their requirements they can go to eduGuard.com to complete their requirements in a convenient and cost effective training environment available 24 hours a day – 7 days a week

Want to hire someone who doesn’t have a guard card?  Training is now available online!   Anyone seeking employment as a security guard can enroll at eduGuard to complete their mandatory courses and then follow the steps outlined on the website to getting their guard card so they can be working.

January 1, 2013 the State of California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services, BSIS is beginning audits of private security companies to ensure that they have copies of course completions for all their officers scheduled to work.  Companies that do not have these certificates for their security guards cannot work their guards without being subject to a $5,000 fine per guard.  Be especially careful to make sure current guard card holders are up to date on their training.  If they have had their card for more than 2 years, be sure to check for a certificate of completion of their required (8) eight hours of annual training required by BSIS.  If they are missing any of their requirements they can go to eduGuard.com to complete their requirements.

If you are a Proprietary Security Employer and need training for new or existing Proprietary Security Officers to meet your hiring needs during the holiday season, eduGuard can help!  eduGuard offers an affordable, convenient, 24/7, online solution to training and record keeping so you can maintain AB 2880 compliance.

Why was eduGuard created?

As a PPO (Private Patrol Operator) in Northern California I sent three young men to a local training academy.  At 8:15 AM they left my office, eager to learn, with a check for their training.  At 11:30 AM they returned to my office inquiring about lunch.  I asked them how long of a break they had for lunch and they replied that they were done with the Powers to Arrest and Weapons of Mass Destruction courses. They had completed both courses with the certificates to prove it!  Disgusted with this result, we continued their training and re-testing in house.

A month later I attended a CALSAGA conference in Northern California and listened to the speakers discuss how important training is to the quality of the product and services we provide for our clients.  I was sitting there with a client and we started to discuss training.  She told me they trained for their government security ratings online.

While I was initially focused on the individual guard, I started thinking what a tool it could be for a small to medium sized company to train online for a majority of their security education.  The ability to have a website or portal with the training necessary to provide a quality product for my clients!  I discovered much on the journey to putting this website together.  Through hard work, our team was able to produce a quality training online solution for the individual security officer and a training solution for the small to regional PPO.
